Civil society and indigenous peoples’ organizations welcome the judicial resolution ordering the reinstatement of Luis Alberto Gonzáles-Zúñiga as executive director of the National Forestry and Wildlife Service – SERFOR, after his irregular removal in June 2020.
In addition, the 54 signatory organizations request that the institutional framework of the national forestry authority be strengthened, reinforcing the transparency of timber traceability processes, providing clear information on the grounds for removal of members of SERFOR’s Board of Directors and publishing the minutes of the Board of Directors’ meetings on the institution’s web page.
